Is a perm semi safe for someone with my hairtype??

What I was wondering specifically is:

a) my natural hair is very curly (not teensie weensie curls) but smaller.

b) I am currently growing my hair out curly again after quite a few chemical treatments over the years, though I am just a teenager.

c) My hair has pretty bad breakage on the ends, it's not very long, and it doesnt quite reach to my shoulders.

What I was wondering is, if a perm, which I understand is just about as bad for your hair as chemical straightening, would speed up the process of letting my hair become culrly again.

BUT-if I did go through with it, because at the moment my hair can be pretty dry, would the curls work or ruin my hair to pieces??!

After having what sounds like multiple chemical processes done to your hair, I don閳ユ獩 think it would be safe for another chemical treatment. The only thing that would gain you healthy curly hair again, is time, allow it to grow out with no more chemical treatments. To help your hair regain its health, put down the straightener and blow dryer. Putting a perm over top of a once upon a time relaxing treatment will only add to the breakage. If you do decide to go through with a perm, then be very very generous with the conditioners afterwards, or your hair may become unbearably dry, unmanageable, and brittle.

I would not perm- so much more of your hair will break off. Use some of the products in the hair care section of your local drugstore or beauty supply store (or even Wal-mart) that are designed for curly hair. They really work good, help curly hair look shiny and curly without being frizzy.
