I asked this last night but no one answered?

I have a curling iron and i take a small piece of hair and hold it for like a minute, but even then it still doesn't curl. Plus i have wavy hair! So I would think that my hair would curl lol, but how long should you hold your hair with the curling iron for? When you plug in the curling iron. how many minutes should you wait until you start using it? Also after I curl it, the curl normally doesn't last. Are you supposed to brush your hair when ur done curling it?

A lot of questions but i APPRECIATE the help.

Wait 5 min usually for it to warm up.

Hold the hair in the iron for 30 sec-1 min

If it still isn't curled to your satisfaction, repeat.

DO NOT comb afterwards. Simply use your hands to position it as needed.

Also, try to buy some type of product to put in your hair to help it curl better.

Check to make sure your curling iron is actually getting hot and not just warm. They have been known to wear out sometimes. Also, you should let it heat up for a few minutes first as the other person said.

You would probably be wise to use some moose or spray on product in your hair before you curl it so it will hold better and also use some hair spray when you are done curling it so it stays.

One final thought...since your hair is curly already..you may want to get a tourmaline or ceramic curling iron that get really hot (if you get one dont hold it in one place real long...many have different heat levels) because your hair may resist curling the way you want (they are about $18-30 ). Hope this helps.

Allow your curling iron to heat up for about 5 minutes. before curling apply some moose (the hair product) to your hair and let it dry. take a sextion of your hair, about a 2-3cm square, and wrap it around the curling iron, leave for about 30-45 seconds, lightly spray with hairspray and leave for another 15 seconds. after you've curled all your hair, spray with hairspray again (not to thick though, you dont want completely stiff hair) then wrap the curls around your finger to define them - do not brush your hair.

remember that the curls will fall slightly, if this still doesnt work, consider investing in a good quality hair curler, or rollers. i prefer rollers myself as they give me more volume and a more natural curl.

good luck with it

when your holding the iron with your hair wrapped around it, try using some hairspray and just spray a little bit on and hold it there for a minute. if just that little amount of hairspray doesnt work, then add more and just keep experimenting with the amounts of hairspray.

it really depends on how old ur culing iron is because new ones heat up to around 220C so they usually curl your hair pretty quickly...

Id suggest applying a serum on your hair that protects it from heat damage then spraying hairspray on each section as you curl it...

Its strange that your hair is falling out of the curl..

Another suggestion is to use a straightening iron to curl.. you will need a thin one but they can make amazing curls super fast and you just spray a lil hairspray on and they usually stay in all night!!

to curl with a straightener you just pull the hair straight from the root in sections then curl the hair around the straightener as your pulling it down the section of hair!!

I hope this helps!
