My cat may have a blockage?

OK-a few days ago, we noticed a LONG piece of hair (possible from our Golden Retriever) hanging out of our 12-year-old cats backside. I pulled it, but it broke (the hair). Now, she is occasionally throwing up, but not really food, it's dark, dark brown-yuck. Do you think something could be wrapped up in her and not allowing her food to pass properly? But, she's not throwing up food?! She seems to be normal otherwise. Just wanted an opinion or 2. Debating whether to call the vet-she is strictly an indoor cat, btw. Thanks in advance!

The problem with hairs and strings is that if they dont break apart, they will spread through the intestines. Whats wrong with that? Well, the hairs eventually get stretched really tight (imagine pulling a sring of floss when it is around your fingers, that's really tight and could probably hurt you if left on your fingers for a long time) the hairs/strings get pulled like that by the intestines trying to move it along. IF it gets stuck, it could tear the intestines, causing infection and could kill the cat. I would just call a vet and make a regular checkup appointment. A good vet should be able to tell you if your kitty is ok by feeling around. A friend of mine actually lost a cat froma similar situation (sewing string) and the vets failed to catch the problem. I also had a scare, but thankfully the "string" hanging out of the cat's rear was only a long, long piece of un digested wheatgrass! :)

Yes take her to the vet or at least call and see what they tell you. When she ate the hair it probably got wrapped around her intestines and is not allowing food or waste to move properly. Or else is made a really big hairball that is bothering her tummy.

She needs to see the vet ASAP.

For future reference, if you ever see anything like a string or hair hanging out of your animals bottom again DO NOT PULL IT! You can actually rip the intestines by doing so.

Please take your cat to the vet now.

Is she using her litter box (is she pooping)? If that's normal, then she probably doesn't have a blockage. The dark brown vomit however, sounds like blood. Does it have a coppery smell? Call the vet to make an appointment, and ask if they need a "specimen" of the vomit. Gross, I know, but an analysis of the stuff may help lead them to an expeditious and less invasive discovery of the problem.

It sounds like yes there could be a blockage. Are you for positive she's eating? Call the vet don't wait.
