i got this curling iron from conair about 3 months ago, the conair instant heat 1" curling iron to be exact. But i never use it, because it works horribly, at least I think it does. But i'm not sure if its me, or the curling iron that's doing something wrong! I think im doing everything right, I take it and i clasp the top of a small strip of hair and run it down to the very bottom of the string of hair. Then, I roll it up, wait 15 seconds, and let it go, but I don't get any curl at all! All I get is a small folded piece of my hair, almost a dent in it. It looks horrible! And I know my hair can curl, because a month ago i got my hair curled super easily by my hairdresser. Is there something i'm doing wrong, or is it just because its a cheap straightner? I would think that it would work at least a tiny bit, but it doesn't. Also, what would you say is the best ceramic curling iron out there, that is less 50 dollars or less, that makes curls last at least 7 hours? Thanks so much!
Conair curling iron help?
I purchased an inexpensive Conair curling iron 5 years ago and I'm still using it and I still love it. What I'm trying to get at is that inexpensive doesn't always mean crap quality.
Anyway, either your curler is defective, or you're just not doing it right, and I'm guessing the latter. You need to leave it in much longer, on a higher heat setting- I keep it up to a minute sometimes in order to get it to curl properly. Try that and some hairspray or hair cream and see what happens.
Conair curling iron help?
u would have to hold the curling iron in ur hair a lot longer than 15 seconds. if u spray pantene pro-v hairspray in ur hair before curling it, it holds a lot better and i guarentee great results.

I would advise to chuck the Conair and get a professional Curling iron,
I've tried Conairs products and they just dont work!
You need something with adjustable temperature settings that gets really hot to get a good curl.
Check you Sally Beauty Supply, they carry professional level equipment at reasonable prices and are open to the public:
