What are you meant to do with a voodoo doll once you've made it?

I read that the purpose of making a voodoo doll is to transform your hatred of a person into compassion (and not to stick pins in it to hurt the person as commonly thought). It also said to put a piece of your hair in the doll, to show that what you feel hatred for is your own distorted perception of the person, i.e. not the person as they are in reality. But what are you meant to do with the doll once you've made it?

We don't take sex questions here.

Telling you what to do with it after would not be accepted on this site.

I've never heard about this so I can't really answer, much as I'd like to as it's the most interesting question all night. :) I like the point you make about our distorted perception. Perception is not truth but then it can be very hard to recognise or accept the truth. But we can't help but dislike some people can we? So we need to dig deep to find the necessary compassion and forgiveness. Maybe the point is to make the doll. To invest something of ourselves in it's creation. And so remember that we are all flawed and all need forgiveness.

What a lovely question. Sorry I can't do it more justice.

Chuck it in the bin where it belongs.

I can't say that I have heard this- but I don't find it difficult to believe- Voodoo is not the satanic religion it is often portrayed as at all. It is in fact very misrepresented in the western world.
