How do you get the hot-roller clips to hold the hot-rollers?

I have long (mid-back), thick, straight hair. The clips that came with my remington hot-rollers won't hold the rollers in. I've tried using very small pieces of hair on the roller, doesn't work. Does anyone have any suggestions on after-market clips or rollers that will work for long hair? Thank you!

Roll the hair. ANd then use the clip right against your scalp. The idea is that the clip with secure the roller, by grabbing the hair close to the scalp.

Also only "load up" a roller with 1-2 inches wide of hair.

my mom had these ones that come in a long rectange container, they're diffrent colours for different amounts of hair. try looking for those, they're probably by conair or revlon.
